Vegetable Gardening in a Changing Climate

Concerned about growing vegetables in the drought? Don't be. Laura Hermanson, Co-Owner of Farmscape, LLC, and GHF Education Staff will lead adults through soil preparation, crop selection and garden planning for successful summer crops in the third installment of a free educational series for adults and children, Getting to Know Our Local Creeks, Ponds and Waterways. Our education team will help kids investigate the plant foods they might find at the dinner table and learn how to grow seasonal veggies in the backyard during a workshop entitled, Where Does Our Food Come From?
About the Series
The Gardens invites you and your kids to join us for a fun and informative series of FREE classes about our local watershed and preserving our environmental resources. Featuring six expert instructors and our own teaching staff and presented in partnership with the City of Walnut Creek, the series, Getting to Know Our Local Creeks, Ponds and Waterways, invites both adults and children to participate, with topics of interest to grown-ups, as well as interactive, hands-on activities specifically designed to engage younger audiences. Classes are held on Saturday and Sunday mornings in April and May at The Gardens at Heather Farm unless otherwise noted. Classes are FREE, but advanced registration is required.
