Introduction to Brush Lettering

Come sit together with friends and learn the basics of modern brush lettering with Meg Hansen, the illustrator and lettering artist behind Water & Well. Brush lettering is an incredibly meditative hobby, and it can be used to create beautiful art pieces, gorgeous envelopes, custom greeting cards, and so much more! This is a beginners level course, so no experience is required.

In this two-hour class, you will learn all about brush calligraphy as it relates to modern calligraphy, “faux-ligraphy,” and cursive! The class will teach you how to properly hold a brush pen, how to create different weights (thicknesses) to your letters, and the basic strokes that are used to put it all together! You will have the chance to practice with a variety of brush pens to see how each works a bit differently, and each student will leave with worksheets, 2 different sizes of brush pens, and practice pages to allow you to continue your practice at home!
