The free educational series for adults and children, Getting to Know Our Local Creeks, Ponds and Waterways wraps up with the workshop andquot;Healthy Soil for Your Home Garden.andquot; Adults will learn the basics of backyard composting, worm composting, mulching and grasscycling. Kids will investigate the most successful life form on the planet and learn how to make garden-friendly pest-control potions.
About the Series
The Gardens invites you and your kids to join us for a fun and informative series of FREE classes about our local watershed and preserving our environmental resources. Featuring six expert instructors and our own teaching staff and presented in partnership with the City of Walnut Creek, the series, Getting to Know Our Local Creeks, Ponds and Waterways, invites both adults and children to participate, with topics of interest to grown-ups, as well as interactive, hands-on activities specifically designed to engage younger audiences. Classes are held on Saturday and Sunday mornings in April and May at The Gardens at Heather Farm unless otherwise noted. Classes are FREE, but advanced registration is required.
